Everyone has questions when scheduling a colonoscopy or GI procedure, so you are in good company. Whether you currently are under the care of a gastroenterologist or this is your first appointment, you probably have questions. You may even have some hesitation and fear.

Many patients admit that uncertainty regarding GI procedures and digestive conditions is a hindrance to making an appointment with a gastroenterologist. Wouldn’t it be convenient to have a manual that provides understandable information regarding digestive procedures and diseases?  Dr. David Novick, of Digestive Specialists in Kettering, Ohio, is keenly aware of this problem and offers a wonderfully simple solution.

Dr. David Novick to Release GI Book

Dr. Novick has written a book, A Gastroenterologist’s Guide to Gut Health: Everything You Need to Know About Colonoscopy, Digestive Diseases, and Healthy Eating, that is scheduled for publication in April 2017. The purpose of the book is to educate patients on gastroenterological issues as well as provide nutritional guidelines for optimum GI health. Dr. Novick’s desire is for patients to educate themselves on common digestive issues and procedures so they can feel confident in scheduling an appointment with their gastroenterologist. It is also his goal to provide information to promote GI wellness and prevent digestive disease.

We all know what it is like to look at a medical book and feel overwhelmed by its contents. Dr. Novick wrote his book with the patient in mind, and he explains GI conditions and procedures in understandable terms. Combining his wealth of knowledge, years of experience and approachable language, he has written a manual that will be equally useful in doctors’ offices and homes.

Have you ever wondered what your gastroenterologist sees when he or she is performing a colonoscopy? Or are you curious about what a colon polyp looks like? These questions are all answered in Dr. Novicks’ book. In an interview with Stop Colon Cancer Now, he explains, “In my practice, I can sit down with my patients and have a detailed, purpose-driven conversation. I attempt to do something similar in my book by using tools such as text boxes and bullet points to organize the information, and I include a glossary to provide definitions of medical terms that may be confusing. I also use tables, diagrams and even pictures that were taken during GI procedures.”

A Gastroenterologist’s Guide to Gut Health: Everything You Need to Know About Colonoscopy, Digestive Diseases, and Healthy Eating will be available at Barnes and Noble and Amazon beginning April 8, 2017. Dr. Novick also anticipates that the book will be available in e-version.
